오색찬란 COLORFUL WONDERS OF NATURE
패턴과 색채에 대한 탐구는 오랜 시간 동안 지속되어왔다. 보통 특정한 패턴을 가진 소재에 관심을 갖고, 그 패턴을 다른 사물에 대입해 그리면서 반복적인 문양을 통해 새로운 이미지를 만드는 과정의 연속이다. 이번 전시는 동물을 소재로 각각의 동물이 지닌 고유문양이나 형태에 화려한 색채를 덧입힘으로써 생명에 대한 인식을 재해석하는 데에 의미를 두었다. 특히 동물의 특징을 잘 드러내는 형태와 패턴에 집중했는데, 패턴이 없는 동물에게는 화려한 색채의 새 옷을, 동일한 색 또는 형태의 패턴을 가진 동물은 장식적이면서도 화려한 색채로 탈바꿈시켰다.

Patterns and colors have long been my area of focus and artistic treasure. The process usually begins by taking an initial interest for a specific pattern in materials and by applying such pattern observed to a different object repetitively, and entirely new artwork is born. This process starts again for the exploration and creation of a new art piece. This exhibition focuses on the reinterpretation on the meaning of life by using various combination of colors to specific patterns or shapes uniquely possessed by each animal. In particular, much attention was given to patterns or shapes that are key features of each respective animal. For those animals with identifiable repetitive patterns or colors, additional coloring and decoration were used to represent each image.
